The Pimlico & the 125 Last

The Pimlico & the 125 Last

With our new 125 last we have sought to perfect the round-toe, drawing on the latest anatomical insights to ensure a forgiving fit which is as comfortable as it is stylish.

With its easy comfort and stylistic versatility, the loafer is without question the shoe of the moment. It has transcended its patrician origins to become the cornerstone of the modern man's wardrobe.

As with any shoe, the toe shapes the soul of the loafer. It changes everything.

An almond toe cuts a clean line. It has a European touch: refined and elegant — and our 184 last is the master of the form. The rounded toe speaks differently. It honours tradition but refuses stuffiness. It is the shape that crossed oceans and survived decades. Comfortable but never careless. A rounded toe works with denim as honestly as with flannel. It belongs equally to weekend and workday, speaking of Massachusetts not Milan.

With our new 125 last, we have sought to perfect the round-toe, drawing on the latest foot anatomy data to ensure a forgiving fit which is as comfortable as it is stylish. There’s a generosity to the toe profile and joint, whilst the waist is sculpted and the heel is securely clipped. The volume provides comfort without bulk. The proportions work with today's trouser widths—neither too narrow nor overly generous. This is why the Pimlico on the 125 last bridges eras and occasions.

The difference in toe shapes is not quality but character. The almond toe belongs to architecture, angles, and aperitifs. The rounded toe belongs to libraries, conversations, and second glasses of whiskey.

The 125 has been designed to fit true to British size, and having tested it we believe this to be the case. If you have a wider than average foot, as many men do, we would recommend taking an F-width which we will happily make up at no extra charge.

The Pimlico is initially available with our light unlined construction in four different make-ups. Black Cotswold Grain is a soft, naturally grained calf; Black delapre is a matte vegetable re-tanned French calf with a soft handle; and then mink and snuff suedes, as ever, the finest of reverse calf.
